I just wanted to reach out as a token of my gratitude for what you are doing. My husband and I watched the zoom “Town Hall” meeting yesterday and while watching, I was in tears. The idea that someone cares so much about our son – enough to make a career out of helping him and others like him – is so humbling. No one has my loyalty, respect and love more than the people who invest in and love on our kids. We laughed at some of the comments you made and it made us love you all and the program that much more! We could tell that you genuinely love these young men and women and believe in the program and for that – I am eternally grateful.
Life has been so hard with our beautiful son. We’ve known his belligerence and insubordination is related to a lack of confidence. Our home is naturally a positive, uplifting, hard working and loving environment, so it’s been difficult for us to understand how to parent him effectively. There are so many people in our lives who love and support J, but for some reason, our way of showing it has not hit home with him yet. However, in his most recent letter to us (we’ve received two so far), he said that he misses us and his dog, but he misses something he didn’t even know he didn’t have: Courage, Commitment, Confidence and Discipline.
He was SO ready to go up – and surprisingly, he was motivated, which I’m sure has contributed to his growth, but seeing the incredible change in him from his two letters is thanks to the IDYCA program and the people behind it.
I know it’s early…but I believe this program has begun to – and will continue to – change the trajectory of his life. So again – THANK YOU – from the bottom of our hearts <3.
